Since the inception in 2002, Graduate School of Advanced Technology Management’s (ATM) educational programs at Assumption University has proved benefiting academics, corporations and to learners from all walks of life. Over eighteen years, we at Assumption University have come to realize that online learning is affordable, saves time, and produces measurable results.
We find that student enrollments in our ATM courses are from diverse background around the globe. Since online learning can be done in any geographic location there are no travel expenses to bare. Clearly, this type of established learning is less costly and therefore attractive.
Our lecturers and students concur that Flexibility is a major benefit of online learning. Online learning has the advantage of attempting coursework anytime anywhere. Education thus, is available when and where it is needed. Online learning can be done at the office, at home, on the road, 24 hours a day, and seven days a week.
Increasingly, learners like online learning because it accommodates different types of learning styles. They have the advantage of learning at their own pace. Our students can also learn through a variety of activities that apply to many different learning styles. They can fit online learning into their busy schedule. Since most of the students enrolled in our programs hold jobs, they can participate in online learning right at their desk. The transferability of skills learned through online learning to the workplace and to jobs becomes an immediate and viable benefit.
Online learning encourages the culture of new knowledge systems when learners peruse information by using hyperlinks and sites on the worldwide Web. Learners are able to find information relevant to their personal situations and interests. Online leaning allows selection of learning materials that meet their level of knowledge, interest and what they need to know to perform more effectively in an activity. Hereby, online learning is more focused on the learner and it is more interesting for learners because it is information that they want to learn. Over the past five years we have had to increase our subscriptions on on-line research databases due to the perceived needs of both teachers and students for such facilities. What we have as an institution gained through the ATM enterprise, is the competency of enhanced knowledge systems while students have the most updated research and information systems at their fingertips.
With such allurements to new learning and to new learning systems through the Graduate School of Advanced Technology Management, it is indeed my pleasure to welcome all learners to the Graduate School of Advanced Technology Management to share in the experience of enhanced learning for the 21st Century.
